The Wood General Store, established in the late 18th century, served the Huntington community for over one hundred years.  This exhibit displays the type of products which would have been available in the early 19th century: shoes, tools, baskets, glasses and many other items of interest.

The photos below show some sections of this fascinating view into Huntington's past.  Please note that the sales clerk behind the counter is wearing a dress worn by Deborah Wood, wife of the owner of the store, in 1826.

Also, the Northport-East Northport Public Library, in their Museum Cove section, are presenting an installation entitled: Lets Play: Returning to Old Fashion Fun.    As part of this installation the Huntington Historical Society has created a festive and fun display highlighting the magic that occurs when free time is coupled with imagination.  The Society provided a wonderful collection of antique toys reminding us of how children entertained themselves before television, computers, and video games.  A photo of this display is shown at the bottom of this page.
